Maybe it's just me, but the "buried in electrotwee" incarnation of Sufjan just doesn't do it for me. Thanks for sharing all the same; it's nice to have the whole set. But I'll stick to the delicate older stuff.
Boyhowdy: It's not just you. However, It's nowhere near as severe as 2001's electronica album "Enjoy Your Rabbit." I think an ideal balance was struck with Volume 5's "Star of Wonder."

Vols. 6 & 7 are for all intents and purposes, unavailable. Each year, these EPs are individually made and distributed exclusively to family and close friends as a holiday present from Sufjan. He decided to release Vols. 1-5 in 2006 as a compilation to the public.
These are not, nor were they ever really intended, for the public. If we ever get a hold of those other volumes, it's because someone who has one chose to leak it.

sufjan produced, arranged, and played on the album, it sounds like one of his own
