So I'm going through a major life change that will impact Volume Knob very slightly, and that is I'm moving from Olympia, WA to Buffalo, NY this week. This means our "base of operations," mailing address and such things will change. As soon as I get a new mail box address, you'll see it on the side bar.
This also means that we will sadly no longer be on three different oceans (tear!) but um... hey, how 'bout that Niagara Falls? Also, I might be a bit sketchy in posting as all my worldly belongings are going to have to fit into a single suitcase as I uproot from the home of K records to the

huh? why are you moving to buffalo? happy birthday, too.
My husband is getting his PhD in Linguistics at University at Buffalo. I will miss Olympia, but it is definitely time to move on. And thank you!
Well then, let me be the first to greet you! I moved to B'flo last year, and it's a very nice town. Blue collar, yes, but very friendly, and there are a lot more interesting things around here than the city is given credit for. The local music scene is also very vibrant.
Plus, the wings are every bit as good as you've heard. ;D
Don't worry. I keep you posted on left coast tunes & haps, junioo.
Hi Beth,
Thanks! I have never even SEEN Buffalo before, so this should be an adventure... Hopefully I'll make some new friends in the city.
I got redirected here from the overheard in new york thing; I'm an NYU student from Buffalo and really, it's a lot better than people say it is. I know anything not in New York City (aka "upstate") is made fun of, but it's a good place to slow down for awhile and chill out. Sadly the music scene isn't exactly huge, but if you're there in the summer, check out Thursday in the Square (referred to as "TiTS"), which are the free concerts they throw downtown in Lafayette Sq. It's awesome and even if you hate the music, there's plenty of beer?

The only band I've heard of is Great Big Sea, but in general, they're folksy jam bands that play. It's a really awesome concert environment, at the very least.
oh haha ignore that, you're not Jess (who posted that to overheard), but still, good luck with your move to Buffalo!
I moved here 3 years ago. It's a pretty fun city with lots of history.
